Twenty-two volunteers with Argent Advisors from Minden, Ruston and Shreveport trimmed hedges, cleaned out flower beds and painted wicker furniture and the back porch of an Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries home in Minden in honor of Make A Difference Day.
Participants also replaced ceiling fans, provided the table with a tablecloth, provided cushions for furniture and added plants.
All six people served by Evergreen who live in the Milford Drive home participated in the work. They made a sign with a thank you note for each individual volunteer signed by every client. Melissa Britt sang Amazing Grace after they presented the thank you notes.
Argent provided lunch for all participants, residents of the house and staff. The food was provided by Rib Shack in Ruston .
Evergreen is a not-for-profit service agency/mission of the Synod of the Sun, Presbyterian Church (USA), serving nearly 800 people with disabilities in five states.
Make A Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of helping others -- a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine , Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of October. However, the volunteers chose to do the event Oct. 30.
