The Junior League of Shreveport is participating in Make A Difference Day by landscaping seven community homes for Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries.
The houses are homes for people with disabilities. Seventy people are expected to add beds and flowers to the yards.
Anyone may help volunteer for this project. The locations include 2600 Douglas Drive, Bossier City; 3111 Country Club Drive, 815 Ravendale, 4520 Gilbert and 3315 Terrace, all in Shreveport.
Make A Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of helping others -- a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of October, this year being Oct. 25.
In 2002, 3 million people cared enough about their communities to volunteer on that day, accomplishing thousands of projects in hundreds of towns.
For more information, the Evergreen project is listed on the Make A Difference Day web site at www.makeadifference.com.
