Stanley James Lamell, a former student of Evergreen Vocational School (1969-1972), contacted us via our website and said he was among Evergreen’s success stories. Lamell’s home was in Baton Rouge, but he came to Evergreen from New York and was functionally illiterate with a stated personality disorder. The Oklahoma Division congratulates Tinker Air Force Base Food Service worker Lonita Ewing. She was featured in the Dale Rogers Training Center newsletter presenting a Special Advocate Award to Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Richard Burpee. Lonita came to Evergreen in March 1996. She started her job at Tinker in 2001, working on the Food Service line.
Anna Dancy received an award for 10 years of service at Walmart in Yukon, Okla., where she does janitorial work. She has been with Evergreen for 12 years. She lives independently with staff assisting her in finances, getting to and from work and other household activities. Anna and Lonita are roommates and are very proud of their home.
Shelly Reynolds moved from the Sherman Habilitation Center to a community home in the Dallas area although she didn’t initially want to leave a facility she was accustomed to. She is proud of her new community home and the Christian atmosphere and her mother can tell such a difference in her. "She’s just happier," Betty Reynolds says.
